Why Storytelling is the Secret Sauce of Successful Sales

I love stories.

I was raised as the son of two English teachers.

I grew up in a home where the basement walls were literally lined floor to ceiling with books:

In fact, I was brought up on three things: Cheerios, bologna and cheese sandwiches and great storytelling.

Why it Matters

The reason I’m telling you that is to this day there’s no better sales tool, no more powerful tool, whether it is on LinkedIn or anywhere, than storytelling.

And no tale is more important for your personal or professional brand than what marketers call your “Creation Story.”

For example, with the Apple computer, the creation story begins with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the garage, putting together the first Apple computer …

With Nike, it starts with Phil Knight using his wife’s waffle iron to create the bottom of an unusual and outside-the-box type of athletic shoe …

Every great brand, business and individual has a compelling Creation Story.

In the video below, I’m going to tell you the LinkedIn Riches creation story, and then I want you to think as we’re going along what yours is. Share your thoughts in the comments!
